Our client is looking for a dedicated Project Manager to oversee all pre-construction activities for a major project in Toronto, Ontario. The role will then transition to an on-site Senior Project Manager position as the development progresses.
The successful candidate will coordinate with designers, consultants, and construction teams to implement the preconstruction strategy and ensure successful project delivery on site.Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the success, profitability, safety, quality, delivery, and adherence to the project schedule within the assigned area. Maintain strong relationships with consultants, stakeholders, and trade contractors to secure and sustain future collaborations.
- Support pre-construction efforts by developing comprehensive procurement proposals, schedules, sequencing, and methodological strategies. Collaborate closely with commercial teams to establish staffing/recruitment needs and detailed preliminary plans. Incorporate the highest standards of health, safety, environmental, and quality management systems into all proposals.
- Facilitate pre-construction and construction activities by developing a PLAA strategy with consultants, designers, and construction partners.
- Serve as the primary liaison between construction partners and the internal team.
- Implement robust risk management practices, identifying potential risks and issues, and applying mitigation strategies to ensure quality, timely, and cost-effective delivery while maintaining positive relationships at all levels.
- Attend and chair design and tender team meetings as needed during the contract.
- Monitor and report on project progress, including schedule status, risks, commercial performance against budget, stakeholder issues, and key risks and opportunities.
- Support capital cost planning and collaborate with design teams to identify Value Engineering opportunities.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
- A degree related to construction with over 10 years of relevant experience.
- Comprehensive understanding of pre-construction and construction management activities.
- Proficiency in PLAA management.
- Knowledge of the entire project lifecycle and the impact of design and procurement on the schedule.
- Experience in project and construction management across various business sectors.
- Familiarity with health, safety, CDM, and environmental legislation.
- Willingness to travel across Canada and internationally.
- Experience with Construction Management Models is an advantage.
