- Our client is currently seeking an Intermediate to Senior Design Engineer to join its land development engineering team:
Responsibilities:- Coordinate and complete the design and drafting of engineering drawings for residential and commercial/industrial site plans and subdivisions, in accordance with applicable municipal specifications and within fixed work-hour budgets.
- Have the ability to design complex storm and sanitary sewer systems, delineate drainage areas, design road and site grading, design water distribution networks, and prepare earth work quantities using Civil 3D software.
- Incorporate Low Impact Development (LID) techniques and hydrogeological requirements into the design.
- Assemble, assess and incorporate municipal design standards, utility layouts, topographic surveys and related reference material in preparing designs.
- Provide conceptual sketches of designs and information on design elements.
- Prepare preliminary and detailed quantity take offs and cost estimates.
- Attend meetings as required with Clients, Municipal Agencies and other Consultants.
- Prepare proposals and related project budget forecasting/management.
- Conduct periodic site inspections and interact with construction field staff and contractors to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications.
- Registered as a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T) or Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) qualified to practice in Ontario;
- Strongly preferred proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D;
- Working knowledge of municipal design requirements and processes within the Province of Ontario
- 5+ years of industry experience (minimum).
- Site Plan and Subdivision design, cost estimating, specification preparation, and contract administration projects in Ontario.
- Design and construction of municipal infrastructure (roads, water distribution, sanitary sewer conveyance, storm drainage and intersection improvements) and rehabilitation projects in Ontario.
- Preparation of Storm Water Management (SWM) Reports in support of Site Plan and Subdivision Design applications.
- Sound knowledge of urban land planning process, Ontario's review agency requirements (Federal, Provincial, Municipal, and Conservation Authority), including the Environmental Assessment process.
- The applicant shall demonstrate acceptable experience in construction site inspection.
