Position Summary:
Our client is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant (SFA) to play a key role in supporting their financial operations. This role ensures accuracy in financial reporting, maintains data integrity, and drives process improvements through automation and enhanced internal controls. The successful candidate will bring strong accounting expertise and a curiosity to solve complex financial challenges.This role offers the opportunity to work on a hybrid schedule, with three days per week in-office at the Toronto head office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transaction Management: Record, verify, and consolidate transactions to maintain the integrity of accounting information.
- General Ledger Maintenance: Update general ledger data for subsidiaries, prepare trial balances, reconcile entries, and resolve discrepancies.
- Month-End and Year-End Closings: Ensure timely and accurate completion of closing activities to meet financial reporting deadlines.
- Process Optimization: Evaluate workflows, recommend improvements, and implement procedural enhancements to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Financial Analysis: Generate monthly trend reports, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial data analysis to ensure the accuracy of financial statements.
- Audit Support: Assist with external audits by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts, preparing documentation, and providing working papers.
- Financial Modeling: Develop financial models and ad hoc reports as needed.
- Fixed Asset Management: Implement fixed asset tracking and reconciliation processes, including depreciation and continuity schedules.
- Technical Research and Issue Resolution: Investigate and resolve complex financial transactions, recommending best-practice solutions.
- Process Automation: Identify and implement emerging technologies to automate accounting processes and enhance efficiency.
- Project Participation: Contribute to process and system implementation projects across the finance function.
What You Will Bring:
- CPA Certification: Canadian CPA designation is mandatory.
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or a related discipline.
- Experience: 5+ years in a similar accounting or finance role, with exposure to financial reporting across multiple legal entities.
- Analytical Skills: Strong ability to work with large datasets and reconcile complex financial data.
- Payroll Experience: Solid understanding of payroll processes and their financial impact.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in financial consolidation and integrating subsidiaries.
- Public accounting firm experience is an asset but not required.
- Prior experience in the SaaS or recurring revenue industry.
- Knowledge of NetSuite is strongly preferred.
